Licensing in Ohio
Ohio does not license chimney or home-improvement contractors at the state level. Local registration may apply — Cities such as Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati register contractors with locally varying fees and bonds, so verify on each city site. Commercial HVAC, plumbing and electrical still need an OCILB state license.
Ohio has no state license for chimney sweeps or home improvement; OCILB licenses only commercial HVAC, plumbing and electrical trades. A chimney pro is legitimately unlicensed at the state level — verify credentials with your city and look for CSIA certification.
